Overview

Klinikal is a mobile platform built for frontline clinical staff to manage patient queues, view lab results, and coordinate care — all from their phones. We delivered a cross-platform app with offline-first architecture, reducing time-to-information for nurses and doctors by 40% and driving a 3x improvement in team engagement scores.

Situation

The Challenge

Frontline clinical staff were relying on desktop workstations to access patient information, lab results, and queue statuses — causing delays in care coordination. In fast-paced ward environments, waiting for a free terminal meant critical information was often delayed. Poor connectivity in some areas further compounded the problem.

Task

The Mission

CGS built an offline-first cross-platform mobile app tailored to the clinical workflow — enabling nurses and doctors to check patient queues, review lab results, and coordinate care from any mobile device, even without a stable internet connection.

  • Build offline-first cross-platform mobile app
  • Integrate real-time patient queue management
  • Enable secure lab results viewing on mobile
  • Design for clinical ward use cases
  • Ensure HIPAA-compliant data handling
Action

The Execution

1
Discovery

Shadowed clinical staff to understand real ward workflows and pain points.

2
Design

Designed for glanceability — large text, clear hierarchy, minimal taps.

3
Development

Built offline-first sync architecture with secure HIS middleware.

4
Launch

4-week pilot with clinical staff before full ward rollout.

We built Klinikal with an offline-first architecture using local SQLite sync so the app remained functional even in low-connectivity ward environments. The patient queue module pulled live data from the hospital's HIS via a secure middleware layer. Lab results were rendered in an easy-to-scan card format optimised for glanceability. The app was tested extensively with nurses and doctors during a 4-week pilot before full rollout.

Result

The Impact

Time-to-information for clinical staff dropped by 40%, with nurses and doctors accessing patient queues and lab results in seconds rather than minutes. Team engagement scores improved 3x following adoption. The offline-first architecture ensured zero disruption during network outages in low-connectivity ward areas. The app earned a 4.7-star rating across both app stores.
